Next up for the ladies was local rivals Westside, local as in closer to home for many than our own home pitch, and rivals as in we still remember what they did to our Sophie and Gemma last season.

With the focus on moving up the table, a win was the first priority. The pitch was like a mud bath after the previous few days of rain and game tactics would need adjusting. Borough started the game on the front foot playing some good flowing football out from the back. After some excellent work down the right-hand side from Ash and Woody, at the 10-minute mark Kirsty received the ball and delivered a far-post cross straight to Lisa’s feet who found the back of the net with ease. 1-0 up and Borough were looking to double up.

Charlie and Meg worked tirelessly down the spine of the team pinging balls from the muddy middle out to the wings. Amy was solid in goal as per every week and had all long-range shots under control. Just before half-time, Motty scored Borough's second after a brilliant through ball from Ash.

Half-time was an opportunity to kick as much heavy mud from our boots as we could and take on board some important info to changes that were being made. 2-0 up is always a difficult position to be in and we knew the next goal would be important. In the opening minutes of the second half, we had chances, hitting the bar and post and the westside GK making some saves. There was a tricky spell where Westside camped out in our half but we rode the storm and managed to secure a third goal, Motty's second on 70 minutes, another brilliant assist from a very lively Charlie.

The last 20 minutes were an opportunity for Borough to play some fabulous football and had the fans on the sidelines cheering with delight. A well-managed performance from all 15 players involved and a special mention to the fans, thank you for all your support!
