Hard to disagree with Chloe’s succinct comment, but our faithful readers probably deserve a few more words of explanation! Definitely a bad day at the office for our Women, though there were mitigating factors: we only had 11 players compared to the oppo’s 14, and several of our players were either nursing injuries or chest colds. Kirsty scored a cracking free-kick from 25 yards while Emma was unfortunate to say the least as a shot bounced off Chloe in goal, rebounded off Emma and stubbornly refused to yield to her desperate attempts to clear. You had to see the funny side, though it took Emma a few moments to appreciate this!

All credit to a well-organised and athletic Benfica side who were far too good for us. Their manager complimented us on our spirit which thankfully held up in demanding circumstances. Meantime, we are redoubling our efforts to attract more players to give us a better chance once the League restarts in January. If you know anyone interested in playing, let us know!
