After a few issues the week before, we were struggling for a team against Balham, but managed to put one together at the 11th hour.
We had three ex-players helping out, a couple who had not played in a couple of years, but they did us proud.
The ex-goalkeeper didn't turn up, so Chloe stepped in and pulled off some cracking saves to keep us in the game.
Wandsworth were the strongest team for the first half and came close a few times. We finally got a goal from Kay who was playing in defence but ventured forward to put us ahead.
But Balham scored 10 minutes later after Chloe pulled off a great save, but a Balham player got the follow-up and slotted home.
The second half was more of the same, both teams coming close but no more goals.
Kirsty hit the post from an amazing free-kick over the wall. It would have been a contender for goal of the season if it had gone in.
1-1 was a fair result. A great team spirit despite not winning, the smiles were back on the players' faces.
Onwards to the next game in a fortnight.
