NO WINNER FROM THE BATTLE OF THE BOG

We turned up at a boggy Wandsworth Common in slight surprise that the game was on. The entire Sinjuns' squad were laying out sandpits on the boggiest parts of the pitch to ensure the game went ahead.

It did go ahead. Albeit 2:15pm with little to zero urgency from the ref or the oppo to start on time. It hadn't occurred to them that starting late may result in it being black as ars*holes outside by the time we finished.

To the game. In fairness, the pitch largely played pretty well outside of the sandpits. It was a pretty tight game at the start with few clear cut chances and both teams struggling to find a foothold in the game. Sinjuns took the lead following very sloppy defending from us, although it was an excellent turn and finish by their striker. Boro were given a lease of life following the introduction of Rob Dawson off the bench. One of his many runs through resulted in him being brought down by their keeper for a clear penalty. Sam tucked away to bring things level before half time.

The second half was much more open and end to end. Rob deservedly got a goal with another run through this time going around the keeper for a simple finish. Unfortunately Sinjuns equalised almost instantly following a good move which cut us open a bit too easily but was very well finished once again. We had the much better of the chances to win it and with a little more luck and incisiveness in the final third could have sealed the win but it wasn't to be.

Finished 2-2. On chances should have won but overall the game was quite evenly matched. Frustration at the goals we conceded also but not a bad point really.
