Sinjuns Grammarians were welcomed to the Richardson Evans last Saturday for a cup game. The 5s haven’t done well in any of the cups in recent years, hopefully the 6s reaching the quarters last year and the 4s the semis, will inspire us to a cup win this season.
We got off to a great start and quickly took the lead within 10 minutes of the game kicking off. Dom making a great run down the left-hand side was fed in by Gustavo for a sweet finish. For the first half, that was the best it got as the rest was played out in a very scrappy fashion and Cooper had a goal disallowed for offside (dubious decision of course).
We started the 2nd half much brighter and started to move the ball around all over the park instead of inviting the opposition for 50/50 challenges. Sam White added a second, Cooper had another goal chalked off for offside (great finish though). 3rd goal was very nice with Alex Lord sprinting down the line, managing to get his cross in just before the byline that handed Gannon a goal on a plate.
A comfortable 3-0 victory and could have been a lot more. Hopefully the start of a long cup run!
