WASTED CHANCES SEE CUP RUN END EARLY

A game about 50 stops away on the Central Line was never going to end well. It was anticipated that 13 lads from the Boro were making that incredibly boring journey... however it transpired Tim Elsworth was actually on a flight back from Bogotá, approximately 5,200 miles away from Ilford. You’ll be shocked to know he didn’t make kick-off.

Wandsworth throughout the game were the better side and the start of the game was no different. Sam hit the post (did look like it was easier to score from my position in goal but I was about a hundred metres away). We continue to squander excellent chances and then Parkonians pounced twice quickly out of nowhere. One was a good goal, the other a complete f*ck-up by yours truly.

Half time, it was agreed we weren’t putting enough effort in. We then pulled one back within 10 mins of the restart with a smart finish from Callum. We then absolutely dominated for the rest of the game, hitting the crossbar, missing an open goal, the keeper making a worldie save. The ball was not going in.

All the lads were putting a shift in by now which led to two injuries, newbie Mark Pringle appeared to dive in headfirst into a challenge (fair play) and Nath Davis back from a long injury wasn’t hanging about in getting injured again.

We then conceded another which was an unfortunate error by Harry King but straight away went up the other end. Sam White lobbed the keeper, which was universally agreed his hardest chance of the game.

The game ended 3-2, a strange affair which we’d win 9 times out of 10. A loss but loads of positive signs for the season. Another league title could be on the cards...
