Just three weeks after our last encounter, we once again took on Suttonians, this time at home. With many players back and well rested we were confident of getting a positive result despite dropping points against them last time.
We started promisingly, but without too many clear openings being created, with them being dangerous on the counter throughout the game. Unfortunately, within the first 20 minutes, we were caught napping from a throw-in. A good pull back and finish made it 1-0 to them.
We responded well and put them under constant pressure for the rest of the half. Eventually our pressure paid off and after a few excellent corners, Jack Cooper in the end powered home a header. 1-1 at half time and with all the momentum we were confident of going on to win the game...
It didn't happen unfortunately. Our play wasn't as good in the 2nd half and we struggled to fashion many clear cut chances. Apart from a sitter from White and arguably we should have had a penalty for handball, there wasn't much to speak of. The final ball and fluidity of our play had gone, and we barely had a corner in the second half which had worked so well for us in the 1st. They were always dangerous on the counter and did create a few half chances which luckily for us they squandered or Chizzle in goal was equal to.
In the end the game petered out to finish 1-1. A game we could have won but probably didn't deserve from our second half performance. Suttonians have become a bit of a bogey team for us, not beaten them the last two seasons.
Still unbeaten though. Huge game against John Fisher in two weeks' time next up.
