AFC: 7 South / Report by Jack Tecwyn

Missing quite a few regulars this week, including Captain Cooper, the 5s set about a tricky away fixture at Suttonians.

Pre-match stand-in skipper Tecwyn said all the right things - no complacency, maximum effort, plenty of talking to name a few of the mentioned cliches. This frankly fell on deaf ears for the first 20 minutes as we started the game dreadfully. Sutton deservedly took the lead 10 minutes in with a decent strike from outside the box. It was the wake up call needed and the Boro sprung into life slightly. Some better play without any real chances created. A corner from the right-hand side was nicely floated in close to the 25 stone goalkeeper, a good initial scramble from Joe, and Tecwyn leaping like a salmon above the keeper to bundle the ball in made it 1-1. Thought we could take hold of the game from there, however they scored before half time with a good ball in from a free kick which sneaked inside the far post. 2-1 them.

A half time boll*cking ensued. Second half Borough were pretty much in the ascendancy the whole half without too many clear chances and moments of real quality. Eventually, we got a free kick near the edge of the box which was very well dispatched by Sam into the bottom corner (it's safe to say their fine figure of a goalkeeper was never getting down to it). Didn't really have any other great chances, however Roberts was clearly blocked while clean through by the tubby little left-back late on. The ref gave nothing, to say we were annoyed would be an understatement.

Can't fault the effort second half. Draw probably fair on balance and still unbeaten in the league.
