A huge top of the table clash for the 5s against Grantonians - our first home game in 6 weeks.
We started slowly, stand in 2s Keeper Charlie making two excellent saves early on to keep us in it. Got more into the game despite being frustrated by a whiny opposition and an eccentric referee. Their moaning cost them two sin bins in the first half, the first in any 5s games this season.
The second half overall was a fantastic performance. The first goal was a corner very close to the keeper which he somehow missed, leaving Elsworth with a simple header. Some good work by Brennan to win the ball upfield and fire home made it 2-0. Further good work by Luke Hurst and an excellent ball in gave Elsworth his 2nd headed goal. They pulled back a soft goal from a throw-in on the right-hand side. It didn't really galvanise them though and a penalty won by Elsworth was well dispatched by White shortly afterwards. We got a bit greedy towards the end and let in another soft goal with the last kick of the game.
A tempestuous affair with a spicy ref but a fantastic win. Celebrated with our first beers in the new clubhouse afterwards. 5s still unbeaten in the league. UTB.
