We set off to hilly Reigate. Half the team still traumatised by our 4-0 destruction two years ago, and still in search of our first win there.
Resident club tosser Coops ironically lost his 5th consecutive toss in true Nasser Hussain style. Our game plan of shooting up the hill in the first half to ease our second half workload was in tatters.
Feeling that we needed to get a big first-half lead shooting downhill, the Boro piled on the pressure but were classically wasteful in front of goal (don't think we actually registered a single actual shot on target all game). Getting more desperate to break the deadlock, Mackenzie launched a long attempted cross into the box only for it to sail over the keeper's head, 1-0. A deflected shot from Brennan made it two. Pushed hard for the 3rd but Reigate held out till half time.
Feeling we would earn our victory in the second half, the Boro fought hard to hang onto the two-goal lead. Reigate bombarded our box with long balls and long throws. A few scrambles, a couple of crossbar strikes and a couple of shocking headed clearance attempts from Huxter later, we survived. Having got through that we settled down and saw out the rest of the game fairly comfortably. Our third goal was from a great long free kick into the box by Jack Cooper... which went straight inside the far post.
Finished 3-0. The clean sheet was a great effort at a tough ground. Two attempted crosses and a deflected shot for the goals, frankly, I don't care! UTB.
