The Boro were confident of a repeat result against opponents Clissold having beaten them in another cup at home two weeks previous. We had a talented if slightly imbalanced line-up that we thought would be good enough to give us another victory.
The referee was interesting. He began before the game had started by giving us what seemed like a 10-hour speech about the spirit of play (without mentioning anything about the new dissent rule).
We finally kicked off. We had some good play in the first half without creating too many clear-cut chances (story of our season) and being troubled very little at the other end. We also had a blatant handball penalty not given.
Second half we weren’t quite as strong. Tight game and they got a goal on the break with 15 left. We piled bodies forward to little avail. They got another right at the end. A good effort but not good enough. No complaints, bigger fish to fry in the league.
