Vets v MMB Vets

So the penultimate Vets friendly game before our League campaign starts saw WBFC Vets take on MMB Vets. Boro got off to the ideal start when a Donegan cross was headed home by the ever reliable Westcott as he started another campaign as he finished the last. He then hit the post as he scooped a shot over their keeper & Hogan also hit the bar as we dominated the opening twenty minutes. However we could not get the goal our play deserved & MMB ground themselves back into the game but although they had more possession our back line marshalled by Sweeney & Harris kept them at bay.

Into the second half & again Boro dominated the early exchanges but just could not find the final pass to increase our lead. Gong into the last 10 minutes finally our luck changed - along range shot was blocked on the line Westcott tried to finish but his shot was parried along the line where Donegan tapped home. We then let MMB back into the game with a comedy own goal only for McNally to head home a Westcott cross. Man of the match votes were spread around with Harris, Sweeney, Nicholas, Rivers, McNally, Woolley, Hogan & Westcott all getting votes with the latter taking the honours.
