Vets report

WBFC Vets 7-0 Economicals Vets (HT 3-0)

Goals: Hoar 3, Jackson 3, Renwick

Assists: Atkinson, Donegan 2, McNally J & Backovic

Man of the match: Sean Jackson

Boro Vets got off to the perfect start on a windy day at Richardson Evans with Hoar notching twice in the opening five minutes. Was this going to be a repeat of the Westend mauling earlier when in the month - unfortunately not as Economicals stepped up their game & Boro eased their foot off the pedal. Whilst we dominated possession we could not turn that into goals with some good chances passed up. Finally Jackson netted to send us into the break three nil up.

The talk at half time was to keep doing what we had been doing & the goals will come. Jackson scored a superb second lifting the ball over their keeper - a goal that the opposition supporters said was one of the best that had been scored against them. Jackson then scored his third when from a Donegan corner he flicked the ball on at the near post & the wind took the ball dropping it in at the far post. Not contend with just one hat trick Will Hoar took his tally to three as well with another smart finish. The scoring was finished by Renwick from new boy Backovic's low cross. Backovic could have helped himself to a couple of goals with a little luck as once more we passed up some chances. Still a win & a clean sheet what more could you ask for. Indeed it was the second clean sheet of the day for the vets custodian, as Plum had earlier in the day helped out our sixth team in their 1-0 victory. Sean Jackson took the Man of the Mach award from the other hat trick hero Will Hoar.
