POSITIVE SIGNS DESPITE DEFEAT

Things started well for the Borough, when Captain Crow was fed through with a long ball from debutant Graeme Grimes, Crow knocked it round the centre back and passed the ball round the onrushing keeper to make it 1-0.

The lead didn't last too long as the early goal woke Woking up, they fired back and made it 1-1 soon after, a decent header from the centre back from a corner.

Borough had a chance to retake the lead as they got a free kick in an attacking position, the initial ball was cleared, then Graeme picked the ball out about 25 yards out and hit one on the half volley lobbing the keeper to make it 2-1!

Not long until half time, could the defence hold on...? No, we failed to clear our lines from a corner and the striker lashed the loose ball into the roof of the net, 2-2.

Another chance for Borough to take the lead, the Woking defence didn't deal with a long ball and Harry and Chris were left two-on-one with the keeper, Harry went for goal, the keeper pulled off a good save, the ball fell to Chris, but again the keeper kept it out! Very unlucky not to be ahead.

Woking goal, 3-2, a ball across the box for a simple tap in for the striker.

3-3...? No, apparently there was a foul?! Even the Woking defenders were surprised with shouts like 'that's a let-off there lads' heard across their ranks. Could have been a Crow brace, but no.

Pushing for an equaliser, looking the better team, then in the final minutes they are keeping the ball near our corner flag, Archie took one of them out through frustration (no qualms here, it was very frustrating) the guy overreacts, but everyone calms down eventually. The same guy then receives the ball and thumps it into the top corner, it didn't really seem fair, but decent hit.

4-2, FT, flattering result for our oppo, we deserved something from that.
