LATE GOALS SAVE 3s' BLUSHES

After last week's heavy loss to Shene, the mighty Boro 3s needed a win to get some momentum back!

With 12 players away this week, getting a team out had proved a tricky task, but with some players called up from other teams, the 3s were ready for the game.

A strong start from the 3s was not rewarded as Captain Crow wasted a few good chances. In true Boro style, the 3s then saw themselves 1-0 down with the opposition’s only effort on goal. Despite their dominance throughout the half, it remained 1-0 into the break.

It was turning into a really frustrating afternoon for the 3s as St Mary's defence and stand-in goalkeeper held firm. It was starting to feel like it wasn't going to be Boro's day. But then around the hour mark, 3s' debutant Danny Glover received a short ball from Lee Grant from a quickly taken corner on the right-hand side of the box, he cut inside onto his favoured left foot and curled a dangerous cross into the box, the cross evaded everyone including the keeper and nestled nicely into the corner of the net, 1-1, finally a slice of luck for the Boro! This was the break they needed, and shortly later their dominant performance was rewarded as Crow flicked the ball on from a throw-in, and Archie Small bundled the ball into the far corner, 2-1.

The game was put to bed a short while later, as Lee got his second assist of the game, this time with the opposition defender getting the goal as he turned Lee's cross into his own net. 3-1, game over, should have been a lot more comfortable, but a win’s a win.

Rumour has it Captain Crow is still wandering around pitch 13 trying to put one in the back of the net... maybe ask Santa for some new shooting boots for Christmas.
