HALF AN HOUR TO FORGET

A disappointing result last time out saw the 3s fall to a 3-2 extra-time cup defeat, this week they looked to get back to winning ways.

An uncharacteristically fast start saw a few half chances come Boro's way. They even had one in the back of the net, albeit ruled out for offside, thing were looking promising. Tom Pytlos had looked sharp in the opening minutes, but sadly a calf strain shortly after meant he would play no further part in the game (get well soon Tom). Hiromasa Zen stepped in for the injured Pytlos, and gave a similarly tireless presence at right-back.

Soon however, the inevitable happened, 1-0 down. A well-worked free-kick routine and a cracking finish to be fair, but in this writer's opinion, against the run of play.

The 3s reacted well to this goal, and within a few minutes were back level, as Bench put a ball into the box, Crow then pounced on the loose ball in the box and finished well with a half volley beyond the keeper. 1-1, game on!

2-1 down... a loose ball in the box after a corner was flicked over James Smith's head in goal, a bit of a lucky goal, but the 3s found themselves behind again.

The second half started much the way of the first, Boro came flying out of the blocks, Lee Grant headed onto the bar, followed up by Crow, who we all thought had scored, unfortunately the defender (much to his own surprise) was in the right place and the ball cannoned back out off of him. Still 2-1.

Shene then went up the other end and scored to make it 3-1, I won't go into too much detail on the next 30 minutes as it is still a little sore, but basically, we were chasing the game, committing more players forward and were picked off by a decent side...
