EARLY PROMISE FADES TO OPENING DAY DEFEAT

Hot off the back of the previous week's 1-0 demolition of the team-formerly-known-as-the-2s, the 3s went into their first league game of 2018/19 confident but knowing they would have to maintain the quality of last week's performance to get something from the game.

Things started strong, momentum with the Borough leading to an early goal from Harry Wallace. A through ball from Smith found the in-form striker who tucked a cool finish past Suttonians' keeper. Play looked to continue in Wandsworth's favour, with Hearty being unfortunate not to score with a quality strike from range.

Unfortunately from there on Borough lost control of the play and struggled to regain composure. Sutts were attacking in numbers and the 3s couldn't find an answer, nor the space on the break Sutts' game plan should have afforded them.

Things picked up in patches, leading to a well-worked consolation goal from Grant via Price in the second half, but the Borough just were not good enough on the day and will need to improve in order to threaten in 4 South.
